Homestead regulates the parking of recreational vehicles, boats, and trailers on residential properties through its Land Development Code. RVs and boats should be parked behind the front building line and may require screening. Vehicles cannot be parked on unpaved surfaces. Living in an RV on residential property is generally prohibited.
Homestead's Land Development Code restricts the parking and storage of recreational vehicles, boats, and trailers on residential lots. RVs and boats should be stored behind the front building line (not in the front yard) and may need to be screened from view by fencing or landscaping. Vehicles and trailers cannot be parked on unpaved surfaces such as grass or dirt. RVs may not be used as living quarters on residential property β this would constitute an unpermitted dwelling. Boat trailers must be stored with the boat or behind the front setback line. Commercial-size boats and RVs exceeding certain dimensions may face additional restrictions. Properties with side yard access can store RVs and boats along the side of the home behind the front building line. Code Compliance actively enforces parking violations, particularly for front-yard storage that affects neighborhood appearance.
Violations for improper RV or boat storage carry fines of $50 to $250 per day. Living in an RV on residential property can result in immediate enforcement action. Contact Code Compliance at (305) 224-4800.
