The ban responds to bovine tuberculosis and chronic wasting disease detections. Limited supplemental feeding is allowed in parts of the UP under DNR rules. Bird feeders are not covered if not accessible to deer. Violations are misdemeanors enforced by DNR conservation officers, and the rules apply universally across affected areas.
