Unless indicated in division 3, no electrical system shall be installed, altered, repaired, replaced, or remodeled without first obtaining a separate electrical permit for each building or structure. All electrical systems and equipment, both existing and new, and all parts thereof shall be maintained in a proper operating condition in accordance with the original design and in a safe and hazard-free condition. All devices or safeguards which are required by this Code shall be maintained in conformance with this Code. The owner or designated agent shall be responsible for the maintenance of the electrical system and equipment. To determine compliance with this section, the building official may cause an electrical system to be reinspected.
