Waynesville, MO Building Safety: Electrical Permits (2026)

Section 500.010 of the Waynesville Municipal Code adopts the 2005 Edition of the National Electrical Code for the City, then revises two of its sections to fit local administration: Section 101.1 is amended so the code's jurisdiction reads 'City of Waynesville,' and Section 106.5.2 is amended so its fee-schedule reference points to the City's own attached Fee Schedule Exhibit A rather than a blank in the model code. That fee schedule surfaces in § 500.020's Building Permit Fee Schedule, which lists a flat $50 fee, with a $50 minimum, for an 'electrical, plumbing or mechanical upgrade or addition.' As with every other building permit in Chapter 500, the fee must be paid to the City at the time the application is submitted, the application gets no consideration until it is paid in full, and the fee is not refunded whether the City approves or denies the permit.

The 2005 NEC's own substantive wiring, load and installation requirements are adopted unchanged; only the jurisdiction name and the fee cross-reference were rewritten locally. The Building Inspector, operating under the City Administrator per Ch. 116, administers electrical permits alongside building, plumbing and mechanical permits, since all four trades share the same § 500.020 fee schedule and application process. Waynesville is a Missouri city of the third class where the Mayor and City Council legislate by ordinance.
