Westminster, CA Building Safety: Green Building Code (2026)

010, states that except as provided in that chapter, the California Green Building Standards Code, 2025 Edition, as published by the California Building Standards Commission, shall be and become the Green Building Code of the city, regulating erection, installation, alteration, repair, relocation, replacement, maintenance and use of green building systems within Westminster. A copy of the adopted code is kept on file for public examination in the office of the Building Official. 020 adds one local amendment: it revises Section 202, Definitions, to add a definition of 'Sustainability,' describing it as consideration of present development and construction impacts on the community, the economy and the environment without compromising the needs of the future.

Both sections were adopted by Ordinance 2629 on November 12, 2025. Because the chapter's own section heading still reads 'Adoption of 2022 Edition' while the operative text names the 2025 Edition, the 2025 Edition as printed in the operative paragraph is the version the Building Official actually applies to green-building plan checks and inspections. Like the other Title 15 code chapters, the Green Building Standards Code is administered by the Building Official as part of the same permit review that applies to a project's building, electrical, plumbing and mechanical work, rather than through a separate green-building permit track.
