Floyd County, GA Building Safety: Plumbing Permits (2026)

Section 2-6-3(g) of the Floyd County Code adopts the International Plumbing Code, and all subsequent amendments as adopted and amended by the State of Georgia, as the plumbing code of the county, with Chapter 1 of the code and any local deletions or modifications controlling where they conflict with the state text. Copies of the adopted specifications, rules and regulations are kept on file and open for public inspection at the building inspection department. Section 2-6-1 makes it unlawful to install or repair plumbing or plumbing appliances unless the work complies with this chapter, and the chief building inspector or a designee enforces the code and issues the permit.

2(a)(8), plumbing permits must be issued separately by the Building Official, or separately identified on the building permit, and work by that trade cannot start until its permit issues. 2 requires two plumbing-related inspections during construction: a plumbing connections inspection of the water supply line and sewer lateral in a slab foundation, and a rough-in inspection confirming rough-ins are complete and all fixtures installed before interior walls can be covered. 1(b) further requires a Floyd County Health Department permit before a building permit can even be issued.
