Sections 250-45 and 250-51 set the framework for building height across the Township, though the exact foot limit for each zone lives on the Schedule of Area, Height and Yard Requirements in Appendix E. Section 250-51B lets a building exceed its zone's listed height if the front, rear and side yards each grow two feet for every additional foot of height, but in no case may the building exceed 125% of the height otherwise allowed in the zone. Several categories get their own fixed allowance instead of the yard trade-off: in every zone except O-G, television and radio antennas may rise up to 25 feet above the zone limit; chimneys, ventilators, skylights, water tanks, bulkheads, belfries, cupolas, elevator penthouses and similar rooftop mechanical features may exceed the limit by up to 15 feet, though elevator penthouses, water tanks and similar mechanical features must be fully screened from view of any street, property line or public area; and a parapet wall or cornice built purely for ornament may rise five feet above the limit.

Public and quasi-public buildings, schools and houses of worship can exceed the zone height limit under the same two-feet-of-yard-per-foot formula, but even with that trade-off no such building, including spires, belfries, cupolas, penthouses or domes, may top 50 feet. Accessory buildings get the opposite treatment: except for residences or schools accessory to a house of worship, no accessory building or structure may exceed 15 feet in height or stand taller than one story.
