2 of the Hendersonville Zoning Ordinance (Ord. 2025-19, adopted October 28, 2025, effective November 18, 2025, revised February 4, 2026) sets six standards an adult-oriented establishment must meet. The core distance rule measures 1,000 feet in a straight line between the nearest parts of the two structures, and it runs against any other adult-oriented establishment, any residential zoning district, any school, any place of worship, any liquor store, or any childcare use, so a single qualifying neighbor anywhere within that radius blocks the location. Beyond spacing, the ordinance requires the business be designed, located and operated so public health, safety, comfort, convenience and general welfare are protected, and it separately bars operation in any manner that permits observation of material depicting or relating to 'Specified Sexual Activities' or 'Specified Anatomical Areas' from any public way or adjacent property, extending that screening duty to displays, decorations, signs and show windows.

The ordinance's definitions chapter (Ch. § 7-51-1102(1)-(6) and (9)-(26) by reference, so the city is applying the state's own category rather than a locally invented one. 2) sets a minimum of one space per 100 square feet of gross floor area for the use, a denser parking ratio than most retail categories in the same table.
