Blaine treats vehicle repair as incompatible with residential neighborhoods. Sec. 129-10(d) lists prohibited home occupation uses in all zoning districts, naming auto repair or body shop work first, alongside auto sales. The related conditional-use list in Sec. 129-10(e) is narrower still: blacksmithing, welding or similar noise- and odor-producing work, heavy equipment rental, landscaping and lawn maintenance, and small engine repair are allowed only in farm residential or residential estate districts on parcels of three acres or larger, and only after a conditional use permit is approved; they remain prohibited on every other residential lot regardless of size.

Even where a CUP is granted, the general home occupation standards of Sec. 129-10(c) still apply, including the ban on outdoor equipment observable from the right-of-way or neighboring property, the 12,000-GVW vehicle restriction (relaxed to one vehicle over that weight on FR/RE lots), and the requirement that any noise, odor, vibration or fire hazard stay undetectable beyond the property line.
