Full Breakdown
Chapter 4.70 limits pawnbroker business hours to 7:00 a.m.–9:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon–6:00 p.m. Sunday. Every pawnbroker must keep records identifying each item pawned or purchased, description, serial numbers, transaction date and amount, plus the customer's name, address, driver's license number, and physical description verified from a valid ID, and make those records available to the Police Department on request. Purchased goods must be held separately for ten working days before mixing with other stock, and no pawnbroker may buy a pistol from anyone under 21 without parental consent. Anyone who knowingly deals in stolen property forfeits the license.
Violations & Fines
Violating pawnbroker recordkeeping, hours, or prohibited-purchase rules is a Class B offense under § 2.56.210 and grounds for immediate license revocation.
