(a)A pawnbroker is required to hold at the place of business the property taken on pawn, deposit or pledge for a period of not less than thirty (30) days after the maturity date of the pawn transaction, as defined in Tenn. Code Ann. § 45-6-203(2), before offering the property for sale or disposing of the property by trade, transfer, shipment or otherwise.(b)A pawnbroker who procures chattels, goods, wares or other merchandise of any kind by purchase shall hold such property for a period of not less than twenty (20) days from date of receipt before offering the merchandise for sale or disposing of it by trade, transfer, shipment or otherwise.(c)All articles pawned, pledged or purchased shall bear a numbered ticket, a duplicate of which shall be issued to the person from whom the article is received. Such record shall describe the property and shall show the name, address, telephone number and identification of person by whom the article is pawned, pledged, deposited or sold and the time when the article is pawned, pledged, deposited or sold by such person.
