La Grange, MO Cannabis Regulations: Dispensary Zoning (2026)

La Grange's medical marijuana chapter, Section 601.020, does not sort dispensary, cultivation, manufacturing or testing facilities into zoning districts. Instead, Subsection D imposes a single operational rule city-wide: all medical marijuana facilities must be entirely operated within an enclosed building structure, so no outdoor cultivation, drive-through window, or open-air sales area is permitted regardless of where in the City the use locates. That building rule pairs with the signage restrictions in Subsection C, which bar a facility from displaying the word marijuana or cannabis unless immediately preceded by the word medical in equally prominent lettering, and bar advertising that promotes anything other than medicinal use.

Section 601.020.A requires every facility to remain in compliance with Article XVI, Section 1 of the Missouri Constitution, the medical marijuana program voters approved in 2018. The chapter, adopted by Ordinance No. 626 on July 29, 2019, was written before Missouri voters approved recreational marijuana under a later constitutional amendment; nothing in the La Grange City Code as supplied to this office extends these rules to adult-use marijuana businesses or states whether the City has opted out of allowing them. A prospective operator therefore locates under the general commercial licensing rules of Chapter 620 (a $50 annual business license) rather than a dedicated zoning overlay, subject to the enclosed-building and buffer-distance requirements of Section 601.020. Violations fall under the City's general penalty, Section 100.220, because Chapter 601 fixes no penalty of its own.
