Yuma regulates marijuana dispensaries and establishments under Article 22 of the City Code (Β§154-22.01 et seq.) and Β§140-06. Dispensaries must be in permanent buildings in nonresidential zoning districts. Conditional use permits and compliance with state licensing from ADHS are required.
Yuma City Code Β§140-06 establishes that marijuana establishments are permitted in nonresidential zones only. Article 22 (Β§154-22.01+) provides detailed regulations. Dispensaries must operate in permanent buildings on established foundations β no temporary, portable, or mobile facilities. Security, maintenance, and operations plans are required. State licensing from the Arizona Department of Health Services is mandatory. Both medical and recreational (adult-use) sales are permitted at licensed facilities since Arizona's Proposition 207 (2020). Buffer zone requirements from schools, churches, and childcare facilities apply under state law. Yuma has a limited number of licensed dispensaries serving the city and surrounding agricultural areas.
Operating without required permits, using temporary structures, or violating buffer zones may result in permit revocation and criminal prosecution.
