In the City of Santee, flying a drone or any other model airplane or remote-controlled flying device inside a City park or recreation area is illegal unless the Director of Community Services first issues a special permit. Section 8.08.100 of the Municipal Code treats drones the same as any other regulated park activity, so a flyer needs the Director's written sign-off under Section 8.08.240 before launching over any City-run park, playground, or athletic field.
