Grand Prairie's Code Compliance division handles complaints about code violations throughout the city. Residents can file complaints through multiple channels: online through the city website, by phone at (972) 237-8098, or by email at [email protected]. Common violations include high grass/weeds, junk/inoperable vehicles, property blight, noise violations, illegal construction, sign violations, and housing code issues. Complaints can be filed anonymously. Once a complaint is received, a code compliance officer investigates and, if a violation is confirmed, issues a notice to the property owner with a 10-day abatement period. The city also operates a proactive code enforcement program in addition to complaint-driven enforcement.
Reporting is free. Violations assessed per applicable code section. Most carry fines per Section 1-8.
