Skateboarding Rules

Aiken County requires skateboards, skates and bicycles to always yield the right-of-way to pedestrians in county parks. Code Section 16-2(b)(4) covers walking tracks, trails and any other traffic or pedestrian area inside county parks and recreation facilities, and Parks, Recreation and Tourism staff enforce it on the spot with suspensions from park privileges.

(b)The following rules and regulations shall apply to all county parks and facilities:...(4)Skateboards, skates and bicycles must always yield the right-of-way to pedestrians when used in traffic or pedestrian areas, including walking tracks and trails.

Loitering Rules

Aiken County makes it unlawful to loiter at any county park or recreation center in a way that disturbs others, risks a breach of the peace, or creates a danger of injury. Section 16-6 defines loitering broadly to include remaining idly, loafing, or wandering aimlessly, and pairs it with bans on prostitution, drug possession and disorderly conduct at the same facilities.
