Unincorporated Bartow County exempts cooking on a typical grill or smoker, and lighter fluid used to ignite charcoal, from its open burning prohibitions and from any burn ban the fire chief declares. Fire marshals and code enforcement officers still enforce the rest of the open burning article, including the ban on burning petroleum products for anything other than grill ignition.
