Frederick County lets owners of structures at least 50 years old apply for local historic designation under Chapter 97. The Historic Resources Advisory Board (HRAB) reviews applications submitted to the Department of Planning and Development, and qualifying structures outside Winchester, Stephens City and Middletown receive a numbered recognition plaque.
