Flood Elevation

On land within a Glynn County Coastal High Hazard Area (V-Zone), where storm surge and wave action from hurricanes drive the flood risk, new construction and substantial improvements must sit on piles, columns or shear walls with the lowest horizontal structural member at least one foot above the base flood elevation. County Code § 2-5-141(b) sets that structural elevation standard.

Storm Debris

Once the Board of Commissioners declares a state of emergency, Glynn County can enter public and private roads, rights-of-way, storm drainage easements, and even private residential communities in the unincorporated area to clear and remove disaster-generated debris that threatens life, safety, property, or the county's economic recovery. The authority lasts only through the declared emergency and the recovery period that follows.
