Recycled Water Rules

Unincorporated Lyon County requires new reclaimed (recycled) water mains to follow the LCUD reclaimed water design standards before a service provider will approve a connection. Reclaimed pipe must be purple PVC C-900, sized to a minimum of eight inches, and reclaimed valves cannot sit more than 1,320 feet apart. Any deviation from the 2006 or current LCUD standard needs sign-off from both the service provider and the Nevada Division of Environmental Protection.

LCUD customers in Lyon County must repair a broken hose, pipe or fixture, or shut the water off, once notified, and Lyon County Code § 9.03.07.B lets LCUD cut service and bar reconnection until proper repairs are made. LCUD itself carries no liability for damage that leaking or faulty fixtures cause once water is turned back on, per § 9.03.09.L.
