Retaining Walls

Lyon County requires engineering calculations for any retaining wall over four feet in height as part of a mass grading permit application, under Lyon County Code section 15.240.04. Grading plans must also show a minimum two-foot setback from the property line or fence line at the top and toe of any slope. The rules apply in unincorporated Lyon County; Fernley and Yerington regulate retaining walls under their own codes.
