Manatee County requires ice cream trucks vending on public roads to hold a Sheriff's Office-inspected vehicle certificate and a separate operator permit, and it fixes exactly when and where they can sell: no vending before 10 a.m. or after sunset, none on roads posted above 30 mph, and a 500-foot buffer around schools during school hours.
