Flood Elevation

St. Tammany Parish sets minimum floor elevations by FEMA flood zone under UDC Sec. 300-5.3.I. Homes in Zone X or D must sit at least 12 inches above the street centerline or curb, while structures in numbered A, AE, AH, V, or VE zones must clear the base flood elevation plus 12 inches. The Permitting Department enforces the standard through elevation certificates at three separate construction stages.
