Terrebonne Parish Code Sec. 19-7 bars camping in any public area not designated as a campground, covering streets, sidewalks, parks and rights-of-way. Before a first citation, police must try to point the person to a shelter or lawful camping spot unless there is an imminent safety threat. Fines run $25 to $250 plus community service.
