Obstruction Rules

Terrebonne Parish Code § 22-11 makes it unlawful to place, erect or maintain any obstruction on a street, sidewalk, public right-of-way or watercourse anywhere in the parish if it impedes travel or water flow. Violators face the parish's general misdemeanor penalty: up to a $500 fine, up to 30 days in jail, or both, with each day counted separately.

Except as otherwise provided, it shall be unlawful for any person to place, erect or maintain any obstruction in or on any street, sidewalk, public right-of-way or watercourse in the Parish of Terrebonne, so as to impede travel or passage over such streets, sidewalks or public rights-of-way or impede the free course of water in such waterways.

Encroachment Permits
