Curfew Laws

Juvenile curfew hours, park curfews, and loitering ordinances.

Three unrelated things get called a curfew. Juvenile curfews put minors home by a stated hour, with exceptions for work, school events, and travel with a parent; decades of constitutional challenges have narrowed them. Park hours close public grounds overnight to everyone and produce most of the actual citations. Emergency curfews exist only while a declaration is in force.

Confusing the three is common and consequential, since each has its own exceptions, penalties, and defenses.
