Bensalem, PA Curfew Laws: Juvenile Curfew (2026)

The Curfew Ordinance, Chapter 75, is enforced by the Bensalem Township Police and the Director of Public Safety. Section 75-3 exempts a minor or juvenile who is accompanied by a parent or guardian; who is out for reasonable necessity communicated in advance to police headquarters; who is on the sidewalk of his own home or a next-door neighbor's, if the neighbor does not object; who is returning home within 30 minutes of a school, religious or other voluntary-association activity for which written notice was given in advance to the Director; who is lawfully employed during curfew hours; or who is returning from work within 30 minutes.

A working minor can apply to the Director for a certificate permitting him to be out on a specified street during specified curfew hours. Section 75-5 sets the enforcement sequence: an officer who finds a violation sends the minor home and the Director notifies the parent in writing; a minor who won't go home is taken to the police department so a parent can retrieve him, and Juvenile Authorities are called if no parent can be reached. A first violation draws only a written warning to the parent or guardian.

A second violation within a year of that notice fines the parent or guardian up to $300, and every subsequent violation within that year carries a fine of $25 to $300. A District Justice may suspend all or part of any fine and instead, or in addition, order the parent, guardian or minor to perform up to six months of community service in the Township.
