Bensalem, PA Parking Rules: Commercial & Oversized Vehicles (2026)

Section 232-591 of the Bensalem Township Zoning Code opens by stating the following regulations govern the parking, housing, or maintaining of vehicles on the premises, then sets three residential prohibitions. Subsection (1) makes it unlawful to load or unload any commercial vehicle in a residential district, except for normal retail deliveries or moving the contents of a residential premises. Subsection (2) is the core weight rule: it is unlawful for any person to park, store, or house a commercial vehicle with a gross weight over 10,000 pounds on a residential district premises, which covers most box trucks, dump trucks, and tractor units even when parked overnight in a driveway.

Subsection (3) separately bars using residential premises as a loading station or warehouse. The same section treats the G-C general commercial district differently: subsection (4) lets commercial vehicles park there without a numeric limit as long as they are owned or leased by the business occupying the premises, the business use is otherwise permitted, and the vehicles do not exceed a Pennsylvania 'U' license weight class, while truck parts storage is prohibited unless accessory to a permitted G-C use. Subsection (5) adds a separate limit that applies regardless of district: no more than one unlicensed or uninspected vehicle may be stored outdoors on the premises.
