Cecil County, MD Curfew Laws: Juvenile Curfew (2026)

'Public place' covers streets, highways, roads, alleys, parks, playgrounds, wharves, docks, public buildings, vacant lots and church, library or similar privately owned property used for public purposes, while 'establishment' means any privately owned business or place of amusement open to the public. Section 180-2B exempts a minor accompanied by a parent, adult relative or other person over 21; a minor on an errand directed by a parent; a minor attending a cultural, scholastic, athletic or recreational activity supervised by a bona fide organization; and a minor engaged in lawful, gainful employment during curfew hours.

Section 180-3 separately makes it unlawful for a parent to knowingly permit a non-exempt minor to remain out during curfew, and § 180-4 makes it unlawful for an establishment's operator, agents or employees to knowingly let a minor remain on the premises during those hours. Under § 180-5, an officer who finds a minor violating curfew takes the minor's name, address, age and parent's name, sends the minor home, and has police mail a written notice to the parent. The curfew hours can be amended or suspended by resolution of the governing body at a public meeting under § 180-6.
