La Grange, MO Curfew Laws: Juvenile Curfew (2026)

Section 215.580 defines a 'minor' as anyone under seventeen and a 'public place' broadly, covering streets, sidewalks, parks, stores, restaurants, taverns, bowling alleys and 'the front or immediate area' of those businesses. Subsection B makes it unlawful for a minor to 'remain idle, wander, stroll or play' in a public place, on foot or in a vehicle cruising without a set destination, anywhere in the City of LaGrange between 11:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. The only exceptions are a minor accompanied by a parent, guardian or custodian, one running an emergency errand, or one on business or an activity a parent, guardian or custodian has directed or permitted.

Subsection C separately makes it unlawful for anyone operating or in charge of a public place to knowingly let a minor stay past curfew, and Subsection D makes a parent, guardian or custodian liable for 'inefficient control' that lets a minor be out during curfew hours. Subsection E carves out church, school or organizational special functions that run past 10:00 p.m., provided the minor gets home within one hour of the event ending. Enforcement follows a graduated procedure in Subsection F: an officer of the La Grange Police Department first identifies the minor, warns them, and directs them home while attempting to notify a parent or guardian; if the minor refuses to give a name and address, or has already been warned once before, the officer instead turns the minor over to the juvenile authorities of Lewis County.

Subsection G routes any minor found in violation to Missouri's Juvenile Law and Procedure rather than the adult municipal fine schedule, though a parent, guardian, custodian or business owner who violates Subsections C or D remains subject to the City's general penalty in § 100.220.
