Nine exceptions apply: a minor accompanied by a parent or a parent-authorized adult carrying written consent; a minor exercising First Amendment rights with signed written verification; a minor with a written consent showing reasonable necessity and travel details; a minor on the sidewalk of their own home or an adjoining consenting neighbor's home; a minor returning directly from a school or religious/voluntary-association activity with written parental consent; a minor working or commuting to or from a job with proof of employment; a minor traveling in a motor vehicle, including bona fide interstate or intrastate through-travel; and a minor caught in an emergency.

Section E separately makes it unlawful for a parent to knowingly permit, or through inefficient control allow, a minor to violate curfew, and the code defines 'knowingly' to include what a parent reasonably should know about a minor's whereabouts, so claimed indifference is no defense. Under the police-procedure subsection, an officer who finds a minor out during curfew hours must make reasonable inquiry into any claimed exception; if none applies, the officer may cite the minor (who must appear in Comanche County juvenile court) and the parent (who must appear in Lawton municipal court), or issue a warning. A minor may be released to a parent, delivered to juvenile authorities, or temporarily entrusted to a responsible adult until a parent arrives.
