Rocklin, CA Curfew Laws: Juvenile Curfew (2026)

Rocklin Municipal Code § 9.28.010(A) defines "curfew hours" as eleven p.m. on any day until five a.m. the following day. Section 9.28.020 sets out three separate offenses: it is unlawful for a minor (defined as anyone under eighteen) to be present in a public place, or in a parked motor vehicle located in a public place, during curfew hours; unlawful for a minor to refuse to leave a public place when a peace officer or the person in control of the place tells them to during curfew hours; and unlawful for a parent or guardian to knowingly permit, or through insufficient control allow, a minor to be in a public place during curfew hours.

Section 9.28.030 lists broad exceptions, including a minor accompanied by a parent or guardian, running an errand at a parent's direction, working or commuting to/from a job, responding to an emergency, returning home from a supervised school, religious, or community activity without a detour, returning home from an establishment without a detour, an emancipated minor, interstate travel, the sidewalk abutting the minor's own residence, and exercising First Amendment rights. Section 9.28.040 requires an officer to ask the apparent offender's age and reason for being out before citing or arresting, and to refrain unless satisfied no exception applies. Section 9.28.060 allows enforcement consistent with a city resolution implementing Welfare and Institutions Code § 625.5.
