San Ramon, CA Curfew Laws: Juvenile Curfew (2026)

Municipal Code Section B7-231 sets the city's juvenile curfew inside Chapter XI. until one-half hour before sunrise the following day. On Friday and Saturday nights (codified as "Saturday and Sunday" in the ordinance, covering the overnight period after midnight) the window runs from one minute after midnight until one-half hour before sunrise. Section B7-232 carves out standard exceptions: a minor accompanied by a parent, legal guardian, or another adult entrusted with the minor's care and custody; a minor running an errand for a parent; a minor going to or returning directly from a bona fide meeting, dance, party, recreational activity, night class, study session, library visit, church or school function, or theater; and a minor going to or returning directly from lawful employment.

Section B7-233 (misnumbered B7-223 in the code's contents list) requires every owner, agent, manager or keeper of a boardhouse, lodging house, hotel, motel or motor court to report immediately to the sheriff's office the presence of any non-excepted minor, including the minor's name, age, last known address, and the names and residences of parents, guardian, or other custodian as obtainable. Section B7-234 separately bars any proprietor, keeper, clerk or other person in charge of a public eating place, place of amusement or public dance hall from letting a minor remain or loiter there during curfew hours unless the minor qualifies for a Section B7-232 exception.

The whole chapter traces to Ordinance 230 Section 2 (Exhibit A), adopted in 1992, and is enforced through the Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office, which serves as San Ramon's contracted police agency.
