Subsection (b) separately bars anyone under sixteen from loitering, idling, wandering or playing on a public street, alley, park, mall, playground or other public place during hours when state law requires the minor to be attending school. Subsections (c) and (d) make it unlawful for a parent, guardian or other adult with custody to knowingly permit a minor to violate the section, and unlawful for anyone to assist, aid or encourage a minor to violate it. Subsection (e) extends liability to operators of amusement and entertainment places who let minors remain during prohibited hours.

Under Section 22-250(j), a minor who violates the curfew is responsible for a municipal infraction carrying a fine of $100 plus costs and other sanctions per infraction. A parent, guardian or other adult with care and custody of the minor who violates the section is guilty of a misdemeanor punishable by a fine of $100 or imprisonment for up to 90 days, or both, plus costs, at the court's discretion.
