Anchorage parks close at 11:00 PM and reopen at 6:00 AM. Entering or remaining in a closed park is prohibited under AMC 25.30 except for designated trails or permitted events.
AMC 25.30.010 sets standard park hours of 6:00 AM to 11:00 PM. Outside those hours parks are closed and any person present without a permit is subject to citation. Some major parks, including Kincaid Park and Far North Bicentennial Park, post adjusted hours seasonally, especially during cross-country ski and biathlon events with nighttime lighting. Trails that serve as transportation corridors (the Tony Knowles Coastal Trail, the Chester Creek Trail, the Campbell Creek Trail) remain accessible for pass-through travel but camping, lingering, and motor-vehicle use outside hours are prohibited. Violating park curfew is a civil infraction with a 100 dollar fine (AMC 14.60.030). Alcohol is prohibited in all Anchorage parks except at permitted events under AMC 25.30.035. Camping in parks requires a permit; unpermitted camps are a persistent enforcement focus.
