Grand Prairie, TX Curfew Laws: Park Curfew (2026)

Section 18-5, formerly titled simply 'Curfew' until it was amended by Ordinance No. 10868-2020, governs closing hours for every public park owned, managed, or leased by the City of Grand Prairie, whether the park sits inside or outside the city limits. to midnight whenever the parks and recreation department has not posted different hours at a specific park or facility; posted hours control when they exist. Subsection (b) makes it a standalone offense for any person to remain or be found in a park or facility once it has closed for the day, independent of any other misconduct.

The section carves out three exceptions in subsection (c): parks and recreation sanctioned athletic events, leagues, or tournaments are not bound by the closing time; any activity that has already been permitted through the office of the director continues under its own permit terms; and overnight camping specifically at Loyd Park is allowed when properly permitted under the camping rules in Sec. 18-16. The curfew sits within Chapter 18's broader parks regulations, which also cover vehicle operation, swimming, boating, and event permitting, and it works alongside Sec. except for emergencies or permitted special activities.
