Full Breakdown
window from the day after Labor Day through the day before the next Memorial Day. " The section carves out one exception: parks not listed in a separate Town Code section (§ 58-3C) may stay open beyond the posted hours solely for people taking part in an activity the Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs Commissioner or an authorized agent has sponsored, approved or permitted, and only while that activity is underway. Section 37-5(B) further authorizes the Commissioner to adopt and post additional rules of use for any individual park, which every visitor must follow once posted.
The hours provision sits alongside other Article I park rules that reinforce the after-hours closure in practice, a sleeping ban on ocean beaches between sunset and sunrise under § 37-21(B), and a 15 mph vehicle speed cap in park roadways and lots under § 37-27, but § 37-5(A) is the operative closing-time rule for the parks generally.
Violations & Fines
Chapter 37 has no separate penalty written into § 37-5, so a violation falls under the catch-all in § 37-65: a fine of not less than $250 nor more than $500, or imprisonment for up to 15 days, or both, plus possible revocation of any Town park permit the violator holds.
