Taylorsville, UT Curfew Laws: Park Curfew (2026)

Section 9.61.080 of the Parks chapter sets a single citywide schedule: "City parks shall be open to the public from six o’clock (6:00 a.m.) until ten o’clock (10:00) p.m. and shall be closed to the public from ten o’clock (10:00) p.m. to six o’clock (6:00 a.m.). It is unlawful for any unauthorized person to be in a park, either on foot or in any type of motor vehicle or other conveyance, during the hours that a park is closed." The section, first adopted by Ordinance 09-29 on August 19, 2009 and amended by Ordinance 21-16 on October 20, 2021, applies to every city park, not just those with posted gates, and covers vehicles as well as pedestrians.

Section 9.61.010 defines an "authorized person" as a police officer, sheriff, deputy sheriff, emergency services personnel, animal control officer, or maintenance personnel, so a resident cutting through a closed park after 10 p.m. has no exception even if the park has no fence. Enforcement runs through section 9.61.210, which empowers the city's animal control contract provider, any other city-designated agent, or any law enforcement officer, in practice the Taylorsville Police Department, to enforce the parks chapter. Section 9.61.220 sets the penalty schedule for the entire chapter, including the after-hours rule: violations are infractions, fifty dollars for a first offense and one hundred dollars for a second or subsequent offense within a twenty-four-month look-back period.
