Full Breakdown
City Code § 15.08.020 closes all parks from 11:00 P.M. to 5:00 A.M. by default. Exceptions run earlier: Lee Charles Miller Bird Refuge and Nature Park closes at 9:00 P.M.; Donner Trail Park, East Bench Preserve, City Creek Park, and every City park five acres or smaller close at 10:00 P.M.; Pioneer Park closes at 11:00 P.M. in summer but at half an hour after sunset from October through April. No one may be in a park during closed hours except to pass directly through on a public street, and a Parks and Public Lands special-event permit under § 15.08.030 can extend hours.
Violations & Fines
Being in a closed park after hours is a class B misdemeanor under § 1.12.050 -- up to a $1,000 fine and 6 months in jail, unless the court treats it as a lesser offense.
