Wellington, FL Curfew Laws: Park Curfew (2026)

Sec. 14-5 of the Parks and Recreation chapter sets two default closing schedules. Parks equipped with sports lighting are open every day of the year starting at 8:00 a.m. and remain open until 30 minutes following the conclusion of the last scheduled or permitted activity for that day, which lets an evening league game or practice run its course before the gates effectively close. Every other park, without lighting for night use, is open only from dawn to dusk. The Parks and Recreation Director retains discretion under the same section to extend or contract these hours for any park or any portion of a park, so posted hours at a specific facility can differ from the citywide default.

The back half of Sec. 14-5 is the enforcement hook: no person shall enter, be, or remain in any park after park closing hours unless a permit has been obtained, meaning a permit is the only lawful way to be on Village park property outside the stated hours. Sec. 14-6 gives the Director further authority to declare any section of a park closed to the public at any time, temporarily or on a recurring basis, when reasonably necessary, layered on top of the general closing-hour rule.
