Inglewood, CA Drone Rules: Event Drone Restrictions (2026)

Section 12-16.9, added by Ordinance 21-12 on August 10, 2021, is the City's framework for tailgating around 'major sports or entertainment facilities' such as SoFi Stadium and the Kia Forum. It splits the activity into routine 'Tailgating' under subsection (a) and formally licensed 'Tailgating Events' under subsection (b), both requiring a Permits and Licenses Committee license for major-event parking under Section 12-42(G) and both confined to non-residential lots within a continuous block located within one mile of Hollywood Park.

Unlike the 600-watt generator cutoff, which applies only to routine Tailgating, the drone ban appears in the prohibited-items list for both categories: subsection (a)(11)(xi) bars drones at ordinary licensed Tailgating sites, and subsection (b)(11)(v) repeats the same prohibition for City-approved Tailgating Events. Both lists also prohibit megaphones, airhorns and other noise-making devices in the same clause, and both categories must clear all amplified sound once the underlying sporting or entertainment event has ended. The drone ban therefore covers essentially every legally licensed tailgating lot in the City, whether it is a routine parking-lot gathering or a formally permitted event.
