Neenah, WI Environmental Rules: Stormwater Management (2026)

Neenah Municipal Code § 22-260(a)(1) sets the trigger: a stormwater/erosion-control permit is required once land-disturbing construction activity reaches 4,000 square feet, while smaller sites must still follow best-management-practice performance standards without a permit. For permitted sites of an acre or more, § 22-292(b) adds a numeric ceiling, no more than five tons of sediment per acre per year, to the maximum extent practicable, from initial grading through final stabilization. One- and two-family homes disturbing under an acre and not part of a larger development are exempt from the City permit and instead fall under the state Uniform Dwelling Code. The Community Development Department administers the permit and Public Works enforces it, per Ord. No. 2017-08.
