Lewisville limits residential fences to 4 feet in front yards and 8 feet in side and rear yards under the zoning ordinance Ch. 18. Corner lots have additional sight triangle restrictions. Commercial and industrial fences may be up to 8 feet.
Lewisville's zoning ordinance (Ch. 18) establishes maximum fence heights for residential zoning districts. Front yard fences are limited to 4 feet in height measured from finished grade. Side and rear yard fences may be up to 8 feet in height. On corner lots, fences within the sight visibility triangle (typically 25 feet from the intersection of the property lines at the corner) must not exceed 3 feet or must be constructed of open materials that do not obstruct driver visibility. Fences on residential property may not extend beyond the front building line on the street-facing side of corner lots unless they meet the reduced height requirement. In commercial and industrial districts, fences may be up to 8 feet and may include barbed wire or razor wire topping (not permitted in residential areas). The height is measured from the finished grade on the higher side of the fence. Retaining walls with fences on top are measured from the base of the retaining wall to the top of the fence for total height compliance.
Code Enforcement notice with compliance period. Fines up to $500 per day. Non-conforming fences must be reduced in height or removed.
