090(d) (Location and Maximum Height) sets the citywide baseline for fences, walls, and hedges by district and yard. In Residential and Agricultural districts, front yard barriers are capped at three feet, and corner side yards follow the same three-foot limit within ten feet of the corner side property line. 460 (Driveway and Corner Visibility). Interior side and rear yards allow eight feet outright. Commercial and mixed use districts use the same three-foot front and corner side limit (also applied within required landscape planters) and an eight-foot interior side and rear limit.

Industrial districts allow eight feet in front and corner side yards if the fence is nonsight-obscuring and set back at least ten feet, and electrically charged fencing in industrial zones can reach ten feet with a conditional use permit. Height is measured from existing or finished grade, except in front or corner side yards, where it's measured from the top of the nearest street curb; on sloped lots, height is measured from the higher of two adjoining grades. Certain decorative features, entry posts, pilasters, picket scallops, and entryway arbors, may exceed the three-foot cap by up to twelve to twenty-four inches under the exceptions in subsection (f).
