Violations & Fines

Installing a fence over the height limit, extending fencing into the right-of-way, or erecting barbed wire or electric fencing outside the narrow Industrial-district exception is a Zoning Code violation under TMC §§ 1115.0201-1115.0202. Violations are first-degree misdemeanors carrying civil fines of $75, $150, $300, and $600 for a first through fourth-or-later offense (TMC §§ 1115.0506-.0507), enforced by the Director of Building and Code Compliance and/or Planning Director, who may also withhold or revoke related permits until the fence is brought into compliance.
