Chapter 17.22 caps fence height at 3 feet (or 4 feet if 95% visually open) in front yards, street side yards within 45 feet of a corner, and within 10 feet of a street property line. Interior side and rear yard fences may be up to 7 feet tall.
In R-1-A and R-2 zones, fencing/walls/structures/hedges may be up to 4 feet tall in the regulated zones if they are at least 95% open to views (wrought iron, chain link, picket); otherwise 3 feet maximum. In RE, RRA, R-1-B, R-3, and R-4 zones, the limit is 3 feet regardless of openness. Fencing 7 feet or under is allowed in interior side and rear yard setbacks. Fence height is measured vertically from the average of ground levels on both sides of the fence.
Notice of violation under Title 17 with required modification or removal. Continued violations can trigger administrative citation.
