Weston, FL Fence Regulations: Height Limits (2026)

Weston's Land Use title sets two overlapping height rules for fences and walls. Section 124.33(A) caps residential fences and walls at six feet, rising to eight feet only where the fenced lot abuts a nonresidentially zoned property. Section 124.33(B) allows eight feet outright on nonresidential parcels. Where a fence or wall runs along a right-of-way, section 124.33(C) requires a three-foot setback from the right-of-way line plus a continuous hedge planted between the right-of-way and the fence; the hedge must be at least four feet tall when planted and maintained afterward at a minimum of four feet, up to the height of the fence itself, and it must appear on the fence permit plans.

Separately, section 123.15(C) governs corner and driveway sight triangles: no structure, including a fence or wall, and no mature planting may exceed two and a half feet above street grade inside a required sight triangle, with a narrow exception for tree canopies that keep a clear sightline between two and a half and eight feet. Sight triangle dimensions themselves run ten feet by fifty feet at a right-of-way/driveway intersection under section 123.15(B)(2), reduced to ten by thirty-five feet on a local street posted at 25 mph or less.

Homeowners near an intersection or driveway apron must therefore keep any fence or wall well under six feet, in fact under thirty inches, within that triangle even though the citywide residential cap is six feet elsewhere on the lot. A fence permit application must show both the hedge and the sight triangle on the site plan before Weston's contracted Building Division will issue approval.
