Weston, FL Filming & Production: Location Permits (2026)

Section 100.30(A) adopts and incorporates the Broward County Filming on Specified Property Ordinance, including its definitions, as part of the Weston Code, except where county text conflicts with the city's own Code, in which case the city Code controls. Under Section 100.30(B), a film permit for a production on Specified Property rests in the sole discretion of the Broward County Film Commission unless the Weston City Manager or a designee objects because the production would impede public access, conflict with scheduled activities, imperil public safety, negatively impact the surrounding area through traffic, environmental, noise or peaceful-enjoyment effects, involve an applicant who previously caused a disruptive situation or violated this section, or is otherwise not in the city's best interests.

Section 100.30(C) gives the City Manager 10 business days after the Film Commission forwards an application to respond with one of three outcomes: no objection, no objection subject to specified conditions such as advance notice to neighboring properties, limits on production duration or timing, restrictions on commercial messaging, requirements to hire off-duty police or fire personnel, vehicle limits, or an outright objection. Section 100.30(D) lets the City Manager designate approved filming locations and cap the number or duration of permits at each one, awarding permits on a first-come, first-served basis among eligible applicants when demand exceeds availability.
