Bartow County, GA Filming & Production: Street Closures (2026)

Bartow County Code §44-705(b)(7) prohibits closing any road or bridge completely to traffic for filming purposes in the unincorporated county. At least one lane must remain open at all times, with traffic reversed through the open lane and traffic control in place. A road may be totally blocked only for very brief periods not exceeding ten minutes, no more than once every half hour, and never during school bus operation hours, confirmed with the county clerk's office. Emergency vehicles must have immediate access at all times, and Bartow County Sheriff's deputies must be contracted to manage traffic and any lane closures.

Section 44-705(c)(1) reinforces the safety requirement: whenever roads or lanes will be blocked or traffic disrupted in any manner, the production must hire off-duty Bartow County Sheriff's Office deputies to provide safety supervision, and flagging and lane-closure work must follow the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices. Filming on a state highway additionally requires permission from the Georgia Department of Transportation, and cutting, trimming or removing vegetation in the right-of-way is prohibited unless the permit specifically approves it. Under §44-705(c)(3), the road department director must receive at least seven days' notice before any full or partial road closure so it can be posted publicly, and a detour route must be posted for any full closure. Adjacent property owners must also be notified in advance and given a contact number for complaints.
