South Fulton, GA Filming & Production: Street Closures (2026)

Sec. 17-10008(f) is South Fulton's traffic-control provision for permitted filming. If filming impairs traffic flow, permittees may be required to use City of South Fulton Police Department employees for traffic control and to comply with other requirements set by the police chief and public works director, and the permittee pays for that police presence. Permittees must furnish and install advance warning signs and other traffic control devices that conform to the National Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices, taking all appropriate safety precautions. For any lane closure or intermittent traffic control, the length of time traffic may be restricted is set by the chief of police in consultation with the public works director, based on traffic volumes for that location and time of day, and closure requests must be submitted with the permit application, with the applicant required to diligently assist the chief of police in developing the traffic control plan.

Traffic cannot be detoured across a double line without the chief of police's prior authorization, and cars with mounted or handheld cameras must still be driven in the direction of traffic and follow all traffic laws while filming unless the film liaison authorizes otherwise after consulting the chief of police and public works director. Any emergency roadwork by city employees or contractors takes priority over filming activity regardless of a previously approved closure.
